but if you stick that many Samsung F3 1Tb drives in the same array - it'll cost less, have a zillion times more storage and will perform say 50%?
And why would I ever use that Thermaltake case anyhoo?

I would think so. In your common HDD the discs have to spin up, those arms have to move back and forth and so on.
