dual psu green wire question

yeah we all know about the green wire trick to get a psu to turn on outside a pc.

and i know that you can hook 2 psus so that they both turn on at the same time with the green wire trick.

but my enermax's dont turn off if you jump the green wire.

let me explain...

if i ground the green to a black on the connector my psu turns on like it should

then i un ground the green and psu still runs for about 30sec.

if i run dual psu in a rig with these psus the main psu will turn off but leave 2nd psu running

this may damage the video cards and/or the mobo.

any thoughts?

ok - so both of your enermax psu's stay active even after the green and black have been disconnected, or just the second psu stays active?

both act the same outside of the pc.

if one is connected to mobo it acts as it should.

the one not hooked to mobo stays on.

How exactly are you hooking the second PSU up to the ATX plug?

And when they are both outside of the case, do they both stay running? Or do they turn off like they should?

-- ok, so the greens are shared, is the common ground shared as well?

Normally the ground will have to be shared too -- if it's not, give that a shot.

yeah, i did that a few years' ago. you need to splice in both the green wires and any two black wires for both PSUs to act as one.

It may not be a bug but a feature: the electronics go off but the PSU fan and the Molex power stays on for 30 seconds to cool everything down. My Antec psu certainly does that, and I've heard about other psu's doing that. One actually had a switch where you could turn the feature off.
