How long has your Middle to High Overclocked CPU's Lasted you???

I was sitting around this morning just wondering on average..... How long a Middle to High Overclocked CPU will continue to function.

I know that I have a Intel E740 @ 3.4 that has been going for about a year. Seems to have know problems.

I also have a AMD x2 5000+ that is overclocked to 3.2 and that has been running fine for over a year as well.

Now the settings for those two CPU's would classify them as middle of the road overclocks. Also the temps on those two don't ever really get bad. Plus they are not on all the time. They are only on when they are needed.

But for fun anyone else want to chime in on how long there middle to high end Overclocks have been up and functioning.

Just want to see what the average life is..... and to hear if there are any real long ones out there? Like a C2D Overclocked to 4ghz and been running 24/7 for 3 years?

Longest running cpu I've had that comes to mind was a e8400 @ 3.9GHz on air. It was my 24/7/Gamer for over two years and showed no signs of stress when I donated it to a friend.

Yeah cool man that's what I was asking. No reason at all..... just to hear the stories!

But damn man a e6600 running @ 4ghz for 3 years is very impressive to me! WTG

Still 4.3 as a 24/7 chip even @ a year is very cool. Think about if you run that chip that high for 24/7 with out a shut off.... your getting double or triple the power running through that chip than you would even a regular overclock that you turn on and off!

Nice

I think if you can keep it cool and aren't overclocking to the moon and back it should last way longer than you would use it.

I still have an 80286 and a Pentium 1 that still work today. So I could say CPU's can last 15-20 years easily.

Even if you shorten the life by %25 it would still outlast everything else in the box!

I have had an e8500 last for two years at 4.0ghz (max OC) on 24/7 before that I had an E4300 for 1yr at 3.3ghz and before that I had a sempron from 1.8ghz to 2.6ghz for a year and a half.

All of the processors were replaced due to upgrading to keep up with gfx tech. My 7800GT and 2.6 ghz sempron were good, but with a 3.3ghz e4300 it was much better. And then my 8800GT was good for the e4300 but the 260's were too much for it -so to an e8500 I went. Ive killed power supplies, mobo's, ramsticks - but never a processor.

I did have to give up a q6600 and a q9650 due to the fact that my nvidia chipset was giving those chips no love whatsoever.

Best case of abuse I've done in recent times is with an E8400....4GHz 24/7 for 1½ years and it still worked the same.

Thats saying something as I did take it to 1.4 - 1.56v for many hours benching at anything up to 4.95GHz.

I had e6300 for nearly 4 years @ 3.05 ghz default voltage but capable of 3.5ghz. It was on 24/7. Sold it recently and got e5200 @ 4ghz.

I've had lot of overclocked CPU and never died on me yet. Just careful with high voltage and temps.

sure, ive only had this cpu running just under 24 hours. so im still figuring out my sweet spot. i ran it at these setting at 4.4 for a couple benches. but sadly wasnt prime stable, i have to knock it down to 205x21 to be stable. im on water, i hope this will help.

I would have to say so far..... this right here is really nice. An older CPU like a P4 running for 7 or 8 years at a 3.4 overclock.

I should start documenting these in my original post! I think I will keep listing them guys.... I will do that tonight.

I overclocked my good ol' A64 3000+ (1.8Ghz, Venice) to 2.7Ghz without any voltage adjustments. I could enter the BIOS and mess around there, but nothing more. After that it got unstable at 2 Ghz, but it was still pretty cool.

unfortunately 2 things - either I get bored and sell the cpu or the board craps out and new board might behave different.

Longest I had was my X2 3800 S939 @ 2.6 Ghz for about 1.5 yrs and then board crapped out and so sold it and ever since I had too many CPUs.
