Ok dumb question, if there is a 3D version released, then does the TV needs to be one of those 3D ones or regular ones, just use those special cool nerd looking glasses?

Cyberlink has released new version of PowerDVD Ultra which says it is capable of decoding 3D movies, so kind of interested in upgrading my media center to this version from 7.3 ultra.

Anybody know?

I did some research on Nvidia's site and the 3 requirements are the software or course, the glasses and here is the big kicker, 3D compliant display. So I assume that means no we can't watch it over our current regular TV's. Of course I'm blind in one eye and can't watch it over any display and get the effect. My family can though. Are any of you guys running Blu-Ray thru a ATI 5000 series card with HDMI ? Just wondering if you can get true surround with out the Power DVD upgrade with the ATI audio chipset ?

The 3d TV thing is pretty misleading. You need a 120hz monitor/TV in order to play back Blu-Ray 3d content. However, while there may be tons of TVs on the market that have 120hz support, probably 90%+ of them won't work. The reason? Well, the sellers of these TVs won't tell you (maybe they don't know, maybe they do) that they won't accept any 120hz inputs.

For example, on a regular 120hz TV, the HDMI input will accept up to 1920x1080p @ 60hz. Thus, the 60hz frame is rendered double the number of times on the TV (usually with some motion softening post-processing). However, for Blu-Ray 3d, you need a TV that accepts a 1920x1080p @ 120hz signal (which only a few TVs support).
