Can blue-tack be used on PC hardware as noise dampener
i got PC case and it doesnt include anti vibration screws for the HDD, so i m thinking to put some blu-tack between the HDD and the housing, and so is with the case fan to reduce vibration and noise, since blu-tack is non adhesive and easy to remove,
so do u guys think its fine ? |

The blutack would then do nothing more than mess up the stuff ..theres still contact between screws and case frame.

It works though but not as good as the small rubber grommets you can buy for next to nothing.
One of the fins on the cooler of my 4870 for some reason sorta 'broke' @ the heat pipe & it started to rattle when the system was on. so i got a small amount of Blu tack n fixed it back in place so it wouldnt rattle anymore. problem sorted.

Rubber-bands will work much better. use them to suspend the HDD.

its melts into an oily residue in 40C+, its NOT safe for use in PC's.
I've tried, it didnt go well - and it was a total bitch to clean.

theres blutack melted on my wall from a 45C day, so i'd hate to think what'd happen inside a PC.
