Club 3D Intros HD 5450 Noiseless Edition 512 MB Graphics Card

Club 3D introduced a new graphics card model based on the ATI Radeon HD 5450 GPU, the Club 3D HD 5450 Noiseless Edition 512 MB. This full-height graphics card is passively cooled, and has a single-slot design. It packs a DirectX 11 compliant GPU based on the Cedar core, which is built on the 40 nm manufacturing process and has a low energy draw. It packs 80 stream processors and a 64-bit wide memory interface to address its 512 MB of GDDR3 memory. The GPU runs at 650 MHz, with the memory at 800 MHz. Connectivity includes DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI with 7.1 channel Dolby Digital audio. It is expected to be priced under US $50.

I'm not used to these small coolers anymore. Just those fat ones with countless heatpipes.
Any comparison how it performs compared to GeForce 8400GS or GeForce 9400 ?

I'd rather stick with my Powercoler 4650 LP for a HTPC. But for the entry level this looks to be a decent pick up.

Why would such a weak card need so much memory?

So that's what all the empty PCB space is needed for, this must be a pre production sample

Another good use for the card, if you have 5970 with 2 displays, stick this in another slot and have 2Dclocks and save some power.
