I think this is a good sign from AMD,I mean look at where they were like 4 years ago After buying ATI.Hope those debts get payed before the high and mighty executives. At least they are not suffering from 3DFX syndrome.

Wow, quite a jump from the same quarter in '09, increase of $400M in revenue. Sweet.
Too bad it failed to impress the market, shares are down 6.5% right now. P/E seems pretty low @ 23 or so. They've got more convincing to do.

True, true, but I still wish ATI was an independent company -- I look to start buying Nvidia hardware in the future, if they keep releasing crap like the GTX 480 SpaceHeaterXL and become the underdog again, and I don't want to feel like I'm betraying my favorite CPU maker (AMD) every time I buy an Nvidia card. :P

Compared to the $2+ billion Intel made, AMD looks so sad.

Glad I bought 200,000 shares back in August
I bought them based on the outcome of the Intel vs EU case, knowing amd would get a share of the lawsuit. I think it will be time to sell next thursday

AMD didn't get a share of the lawsuit. EU got the money and it goes against member state fees.

I'm happy for Intel strong financial performance for Q1/2010 and I'm more happy for AMD that has had a turnover bad time for several months. All I want is real competition, my nightmare is a world with just Intel and nVidia ruling the CPU/GPU market.
My first CPU was a K6 @300 MHz back in 1999 AMD made possible I owned a PC for the first time ![]() Go AMD!!! |

Next to the $2+ billion Intel made, AMD's profit looks pretty damn good, considering its size.

But seriously, what did you expect. Intel also has some of the worst business practices in the game (not worse than nvidia, but close).

Ok, now that they have some change, they need to restart the Ad campaign. One of the primary issues with their processors is when I ask people what processor they have they reply, "An Intel AMD something or other." *facepalm*
Seriously, AMD needs to get the word out so their name is at least as well as say General Mills. While most people will go, "I am not sure why I know that name." they still know it. And if you name a product they make, people will know exactly who they are. That is what AMD needs to aim for right now. |

Insult? No, just putting things in perspective. I buy the best bang for the buck. AMD has been short on bang for almost 4 years now. I have an Opteron 180 system upstairs that used to be mine...until it wasn't fast enough for my needs.Quote:

But, I also plan to grab a 6 core AMD chip when possible. To me, the more cores/threads, the happier I am. ![]() At any rate, AMD being on an upswing is good news. They are still doing lousy compared to their heyday, but any improvement is welcome.
