If same price X58 Asrock or Gigabyte

I am stuck between two motherboards at the moment.
The Asrock X58 Extreme3 or the GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R.
They are within $4 of each other shipped so that is not really a factor.
I don't know much about Asrock and have bought several things from Gigabyte.
Given a choice of only these two boards which would you pick and why?
SLI/CF not a concern for me. I will be getting a 930 and have a 5850.

Thanks,
Mark

GO with the GB for sure if it is only a $4 difference. You won't regret it. Asrock's are good but compared to Gigabyte's, you're better off paying the extra $4.

+1 here. Asrock boards are a very solid budget option, but they are most certainly inferior to Gigabyte. In my opinion, the entire Gigabyte x58 line is superior to most x58 boards, save for one or two EVGA boards, and maybe one Asus.

yes gigabyte, better bios better cooling, better mosfets. asrock's are toned down asus boards whereas gigabyte is basically the same as asus but with a queer blue pcb instead of black. if the asrock was say $40 or more less I'd say go for it otherwise gb all the way

For the x58 chipset, Asus doesn't come close to Gigabyte in quality, except for maybe the R2E. Oh, and what's wrong with the blue pcb? I've become rather fond of it.

I would always take a Gigabyte board over a Asrock board, not matter what platform. I just have alot more faith in Gigabyte's quality

ASROCK is the LAST brand i would buy, they squeal, are badly designed, low overclocking margins, bad bioses. ive owned 3 of them and all are utter CRAP, please for your sake buy a gigabyte

It may be like Gigabyte's lowend/middle = Asrock's highend

Its not that Gigabyte's lowend are bad ,they are the real kickass one's

In OCing they may surprise ,what u could have never imagined with Asrock's mobo's ........

So make ur wise decision :toast:

i'd pick the gigabyte over the asrock for the price, BUT those calling asrock junk are misinformed IMHO. My current x58 extreme has hit 235 bclk and can run 24/7 stable at 215+ bclk. It's all in how you prep and treat your hardware IMHO.

The Asrock X58 Extreme3 is the only board from Asrock i have ever heard anything good from so they pulled off a good one with that but i would go with GigaByte - they have just better boards.

i can sourly disagree, the only good things are their innovation in their boards and their customer support, everything else is a pain in the ass

I've had very sour experiences with just about every manufacturer and a DFI that was an absolute nightmare but I still wouldn't refer to them ALL as junk.
