yer i think they do because the 5970 has 2 GPUs and it runs in crossfire all ready if they made drivers it would need to be for 8x crossfire

Wow that's 1 Ghz core clock on those GTX. I wonder what the power draw was on those cards at the time.

If it pulls a world record I don't see what significance not oc'ing the memory has.

Probably because the LC pots were only for the core and when they had to wrap up the card to protect it from condensation, the memory chips got hot enough even at stock.

I still care about benchmarks only for the review. That Way I know how it shapes up to others.. FPS really don't matter to me..

I can't wait for the 4gb Sapphire 5970 to come out. We'll see then what's really top.

Edit.. Hahaha, AFW got to the link before I could.

even it works, 8 GPU's scaling would be far inefficient, probably works the same with 4~5 GPUs, we already know A x2 and a x70 together works almost the same with two x2's.

Well obviously some people, but despite the fact that it's become easier to do and therefore can draw a bigger crowd, that aspect also hurts it. Overclocking is not some painful and extremely scary trial and error process - where you risked killing off your prized PC components.

People like Kingpin and Shamino don't even buy their equipment, it's given to them for the most part. All they have to do is plug it in and make some tweaks.

Hence back to the 'ease of modern overclocking,' point. There's thousands of people that could do the exact same thing, but there aren't thousands of people who are paid or sponsored to actually do it.

When people were tinkering around with some of the old Intel turbo modes or AMD's original HT architecture, that was cool. When people were soldering their Phoenix motherboards on some rigged up stack of milk crates out on the back porch, that was cool. Ten years later, we're strapping computers to LN2 tanks and dragging a slider to the right on EVGA Precision. That doesn't make anyone an 'overclocker.' And when the hell did overclocking computer components make you a thing, an "overclocker?" - as if it's some title you can carry around and go 'Hey, names Jim' 'My job? I'm an overclocker!' <---seriously get the fu** out. I'm fine with computer geeks being nerds, but I cannot stand computer geeks being 'hip.'

See this ? :draws a line in the sand: pick your side, professor or poser.

I care about benchmarks...and I think LN2 runs are pretty cool (no pun intended). But I would rather see real world 24/7 benches on water or air. These short term runs are awesome, but not useful at all...
