you cant use DDR2 with an i7, for that you need either dual channel low voltage (1.65v or lower) ddr3 memory or tripplechannel low voltage (1.65v) ddr3 memory
you wanna build a new rig or just doing a upgrade? do you have any hardware atm?

yeah well you can not use your old memory with the i7 that youre looking at
if you wanna go i7 then this is good MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...20ga-p55a-ud4p CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-214-_-Product or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-215-_-Product memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231278 but as i said before then i dont know any aussie hw stores, so someone from aus has to find one. but that gives you an idea of how much it would cost you,

If you want to reuse the RAM he can always go the AMD route, probably cheaper as well.

EDIT: Have looked at it, and it's not true. If there are differences, the are not exactly noticable, and sometimes Vista is faster than 7.

lol your 320GB driver is running FAT32. i would reformat that to NTFS for the reason of you cannot transfer a file thats more than 4gb in size over to that drive.

I was just looking at the motherboard you have there and it doesnt support quads (from neweggs site)
if i were you i would just do a full upgrade to a AM3 setup for gaming and be done with it!
