PQI Intros CoolDrive U368 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Power Quotient International (PQI) released its newest USB flash-drive, the CoolDrive U368. Among a small, growing group, the U368 is USB 3.0 SuperSpeed compliant, and offers transfer-rates on par with hard drives, with access times comparable to those of SSDs. Its casing is typically-shaped, measuring 90.1 x 22 x 11.1 mm, and weighing 25 g. When connected using USB 3.0, the drive offers transfer speeds of around 105 MB/s, which can be improved with the bundled TurboFlash USB software. It is available in capacities ranging from 8 GB, all the way up to 128 GB. It is backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, albeit with lower transfer-rates. Pricing and availability are yet to be known.

I was looking at Amazon for some USB 3 flash drives, and the SuperTalent ones are going for $70 for 16GB, and $120 for 32GB. They get really pricey for 64 and 128GB drives.

Still a little more expensive than I would like to see. I was hoping for around $45 for 16GB, and twice that for 32.

I also want to know how they perform in USB 2.0 ports. A steady 30MB/s write would still be very nice compared to what's typical of 2.0 drives, and would make these a nice upgrade, even if you don't have USB 3.0 yet.

i'd say 35MB/s read with 15MB/s write would be what to expect. No real basis for that, it just seems right to me.

Looks nice and I love the write speeds. Talk about a boon for using a 4GB flash drive of USB 3.0 specs for installing Win 7.

I somehow doubt write would be that low. I would hope the write speeds could max USB 2.0.
