1090T/Crosshair IV/Noctua D14 Overclocking notes

So, I have been really pushing my 1090T as far as it will go. So far I have gotten up to 4.3ghz, however for some reason, I can't boot that speed. The highest I can boot, so far is about 3.8ghz. I have to use the Asus Utility to overclock while in window's to avoid a blue screen. However once in Window...I have been pushing 4.3ghz in terms of stable Cinibench overclock(getting around a 24k multicore/4.8k single bench too). I get similar FPS compared to my i7 920 in almost every game I play regularly(mainly L4D2, and GTAIV).

PCProbeII, Asus's temp monitoring software also is has never gone above 36C when at 3.8...It's only when I push 4.3 and max all the cores to do I see above 40C..usually topping out around 44C.

So how have your overclocking endeavors been with the new AMD hexacor?

I was also thinking, if you can manually adjust the multiplier for each core, which you can with Asus's software...I would think you could attain higher clocks with 3-4 cores and low clock the other two..but I am worried about stability...

System Specs

I'm sitting at 4G x 6 cores with the following:

1xCorsair H50 CPU Cooler (original fan running at 1700rpm + pump runnning at 1495)

CPU voltage = 1.4v
Ht Link 2257
FSB 250
Multi 16

BIOS 0801 Crosshair Formular IV

Stable in Prime 95 but temps go into the 60's after 15 min

Stable for 3hrs running AOD Stess Tool + 3Dmark06 looping

I would say the AOD+3Dmark is the most realistic test as it matches gaming sessions with the who system working.

Temps never go above 55c (the chip that is - which is what you should be monitoring). The cores go to about 43c.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

bboymassuk

4.5G on air ???

Apart from getting a login screen, did you run any tests or game ?

What was the maximum CPU temp (forget the cores), I want the chip itself.

Thanks,

Depends on the voltage, not the OC. For i7 I think its 1.6v max.

It doesn't take much to hit 4ghz your looking at years and years of that clock working as long as your under 1.55v which is the amd spec sheet max voltage for these chips
