ASUS Intros Eee PC 1005PR Netbook

ASUS introduced its newest Eee PC, the 1005PR 10.1-inch netbook. Equipped with a 1366 x 768 pixel screen, the 1005PR is capable of 720p HD video playback, although the HD video processing is done by its Broadcom Crystal HD processor, which aides the Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz processor. There is 1 GB of DDR2 memory, 250 GB of storage along with 500 GB of cloud-based storage, 0.3 MP webcam, 10/100 Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, and "Chiclet" keyboard that is said to offer good tactile feedback. The 6-cell battery is rated to go for up to 11 hours on a full charge. Windows 7 Starter is the OS of choice. Backed with 1 year warranty, the Eee PC 1005PR retails for around $400.

I think the 1005PE was the best netbook for the price. If the 1005PR can make it to the $325 mark it'll be the new king but $400 is a stretch for any netbook class computer.

I'm loving the resolution though. That damn 1024x600 resolution was my #1 netbook gripe when I owned my 1000HA.

One of the reasons I went with an Eee PC 1201n. Same resolution in a 12" with ION instead of Crystal HD, and a dual-core atom (desktop version). Nowhere near the battery life of this guy, though.

I can comment on the keyboard though. It's not the exact same one as on the 1201n, but this one is great to type on. I had very little trouble adjusting from a 13" HP dv3t.

Why on earth they supply Windows 7 Starter with it?!?!?!? I'd expect no less than Win7 Home Premium or at least Home Basic...
