HT Omega Claro Halo or ASUS Xonar Essence STX?

OK. I'm tired of my onboard sound and my Turtle Beach USB Micro device isn't cutting it for me anymore. I want a soundcard with a built in headphone amp to power my AT ATHA700s, which I know I don't need an amp for but for a future set of headphones it would be nice. Any experience or thoughts on these two cards or perhaps something better I've missed?

HT | OMEGA Claro Halo 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface ...

ASUS Xonar Essence STX Virtual 7.1 Channels 24-bit...

As far as I can tell they are great cards and the ASUS has Dolby headphone which I don't see the HT having. Although I've heard fantastic things about HT's drivers but I haven't heard anything negative about ASUS's.

Thoughts?

What makes the CMI8788 such an important factor between the 2?

System Specs

Just to say the headphone amp IC on both is more suited to drive high impedance headphones than low impedance phones.

Essence STX unless you need PCI and analog multichannel output.
