Buying PC gear

I regret buying my PC retail when I built it around 2 years ago. I was afraid to buy used PC gear, but I really don't know what I was thinking. I spent nearly a G at a shop with whats in my specs. I wish I had brought my stuff from here. There is no telling the beast I could've built here with a grand here. My actual question is do many people here basically build their whole PCs from stuff they buy here or in the Hot Deals? My next machine will be used from here/hot deals...and still excessive as used will allow

It's a personal preference. Some people just will not buy used parts, but then there's those people like me who buy everything to a limit used. For example: I would never buy a monitor used, just won't do it, but, I will not buy a processor new ever again. Buying used, you know how well it overclocks and voltages and all that vs trying to get a lucky pick buying retail.

If I'd live in the US, I'd buy more from here. If any, I buy from a member thats in the EU and relatively close to me, and also only if the deal is very good. Because with taxes and all that stuff it adds up.

id buy used but as jellyrole said only certain parts, like cpu gpu memory not monitors or keyboards etc there are some great bargains to be had on top quality gear

I agree with the processor. I paid $100 for my 5000+ at the shop, then looked up here and saw one for half the price. Then it doesn't even overclock like the reviews said it would

I need to stop typing so fast...my sentences were f**ked up

I generally do not buy used hardware. I like that new car smell that comes when you open the package. There are some great deals to be had, I just prefer to buy new. But I am a sucker for breaking the seal on new hardware.

I try to get used parts if possible, its way cheaper than new. But no used in ear earphones and gross things like that. Also no used psu.

I dont mind buying used hardware - Providing I can trust the person who im buying it off & he gives me a decent price for it.

but yeah....new parts just make me feel like a little kid on christmas day. its like omfgwtfleetsaucebbq - all these boxs shiney new boxs to open up
