Mitsubishi Electric Releases New Diamondcrysta WIDE 23-inch Monitor

Mitsubishi Electric released the Diamondcrysta WIDE RDT232WX. This 23-inch LCD display comes in two variants, that with glossy screen, and that with a matte (anti-glare) screen. The panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 3.8 ms of response time (GTG), 1000:1 contrast ratio (5000:1 dynamic), 300 cd/m², and 3W stereo speakers. Inputs include DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. The variant with the glossy screen will be priced at US $464 and that with the matte screen at $484, when the two release later this month in Japan.

What panels do these have? If it's anything less than IPS, it's a ripoff.

Considering it's 3,8ms with GTG rating, i'd say it's IPS. Most of TN's have 2ms GTG or even less.
Besides, TN for over 400 bucks is not really realistic...

Most TN are listed as 5ms, most IPS are listed as 6ms. I haven't seen a single IPS panel rated this low.

I think they are either Tn film, and Mitsu is charging a really exorbitant price for them, or it's IPS, and Mitsu is severely overstating their response times.

Either way, it's a poor choice on their part.

Once a pond a time Mitsubishi had the best crt & tv's, from that I would try one & do think this new product does what's stated.

No, IPS looks better. Tn is just cheaper.

If you actually believe the ms and contrast ratings any manufacturer gives you, you have bigger problems than a slow panel. None of them actually do 2ms, or even 5ms. That is only a best case scenario that they pick to give them better numbers, and that is only between 2 different shades of grey. Problem is, there is no industry standard for what shades of grey to use. The real ms ratings are black to white to black, and are much, much higher than what they want you to see.

They use overdrive to achieve these ratings, and overdrive can cause more problems than it solves when it comes to image quality. Negative ghosting, sparkle artifacts, etc., etc. To get 3.8 out of an IPS panel, they are overdriving it to hell and back, possibly defeating the purpose of buying an IPS panel in the first place, which is image quality.

Nasty. Notice how the matte screen is more expensive for the same spec. THAT IS WHY the manufacturers have been pawning glossy screens onto gullible consumers; they are cheaper to make!

Ok, which one of you whippersnappers fell for the "glossy gives blacker Apple blacks" marketing spin?

Welcome back matte screens. Let's hope 2010 brings back 1200 or 1440 or 1600 in the "y".

Ok, which one of you whippersnappers fell for the "widescreen but less y gives you bigger FOV" marketing spin?
