It doesn't need drivers, it doesn't connect to the system bus in any way. Only the audio output.

Kama amp

I bought the standard version of this a few months back and I'm impressed, my pc destroyed my high quality amp twice so I needed a solution and for €40 it's perfect, powers two heavy duty speakers without so much as a grumble and load enough to upset the neighbours in the next street. Sound quality is not hi-fi standard and suffers from interference when wired internally. For 40 bucks it's great.

I can attest that this uses a YDA138 chip, which is pretty good for the price.

This is an ampifier, it strengthens the audio signal (analog) so that your expensive speakers/Headphones/hi-fi can be driven properly.

Edit. After examining and re-reading, it only works for headphones and regular home type speakers with speaker wire, not a plug. Does not work with your existing PC speakers. For use with NON- Amplified speakers. Only 2 channel and no subwoofer support. actually pretty useless now that i know a little more.

Can anybody share any good reason to get something like this? is there really that many people without pc speakers that want to run home speakers from their pc? For the cost of this thing i'm sure you could just pick up a nice set of 5.1 speakers made for the PC.

Why buy this.

If your PC is blowing your amp it's a cheap solution. Good for video not music.

I dont think I would buy it , wouldnt do much good. As I have a pioneer reciever connected to my pc and it has 4 6.5 speakers connected to it . Also I have a 12 inch powered sub that plugs directly to my sub out .

The only real reason I see to get this is if you just *have* to have a headphone amp/class D speaker amp mounted in a 5.25" bay. Otherwise there are better options available for either or both although although they might cost more. $50 powered PC-style speakers is getting in to the cheaped-out range especially for 5.1 though.

If the 5.25" bay thing is necessary snagging an older used 2 channel or out of date surround receiver makes a lot more sense to me.

Thats total crap. I thought its gonna be totally computer managed so you can have profiles for games etc. (similar to what you can do with mouse). But this is just an amp pfff.
