Dual 4870X2
Ok I've got both 4870X2 in my case fired up, Crossfired Enabled, Is there anything else I need to do?
![]() Also here a list of things ive got right now. ![]() 932 HAF AMD Ed. CrosshairIV 1090T X6 OC at 3.97 stable Dual 4870X2 Sapphire running in crossfire i think ![]() 8gb Gskill 2000, PC16000 1.65V 950w Corsair PSU H50 Corsair for cooling I just ordered a NZXT sentry lx, Now Ive had to move the PSU to the top of the 932, doing so ive had to remove the top fan, tried to put it at the bottom to pull air in, but its kinda just push down into the bottom of the case cause it seems the top is larger than the bottom of the HAF 932. Ive put the rear coolmaster fan at the top with one screw due to PSU is in the way and I dont have the right size fans yet.. Going to get some Delta TFB1212GHE 120x38mm Extreme High Speed http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/de12tfexhisp.html ...fans to put at the top to get some air flow and well ok 2 at the top if i can fit them and 2 at the bottom to suck air in. Now here's my other question, I am doing all this cause the 4870X2's have arctic coolers on both of them, and they run hot like 50c or so. And since ive had to re-wire and remove fans and such I just dont think Im getting enough airflow... Am i crazy or correct... And does anyone have any suggestions for me? ![]() Money isnt an option on fans, and Neither is NOISE Due to me having no EARS!.. And ive got a set of Earplugs if they grow back....![]() I have also am toying around with the idea of buying a HAF932 standard door to get even more space for fans to help keep the cards cool... which would call for 4 more fans and i am really thinking about buying it from Coolmaster they are 18bucks and might use it when benchmarking or going to lan partys to wow peeps... Any help would be awesome and thanks again guys! Josh ![]() heres a link to my build incase you need more info http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=121551

first off you better chek if the vrm heatsinks are doing proper contact
i'll bet $$$$$ they are not and you will need to add a think thermal pad on vrm area on the big chips i moded my accelero vrm heatsinks , sande down where the screws go to lower the heatsink + there are 2 chips that restrict n sanded down where the chips do contact if you mess up the screws use bolts add 1 fan on the side of each x2 i moved the x2 on water i max out vrm +gpu temp @ 30c now

Thanks for the quick respose.. SO do you think with the way my build is going and I am starting to think its becoming exotic.. should I start moving toward Water cooling? I mean i wanted to but i just built this rig like just a couple of weeks ago and its my first time. Did I go to big and wild to fast and now need to look at exotic cooling solutions? thanks ![]() josh

I think you mean quadfire right?
50c is a great temp. Its actually really good for a 4870X2.

![]() the 1090T isn't the hottest running processor and the X2's sound like theyre chugging along happily with the arctic cooling, so I'd leave it for now, enjoy it and save your money!

Dual 4870x2's should not disappoint, especially when it comes to keeping your house warm in the winter without a heater and seeing four-digit readings from the kill-a-watt
![]() But seriously, I've had my pair for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier. When a game scales well it's truly a sight to be seen. In Bad Company 2 I get better performance than a 5970. Mine don't get much hotter than about 70C using the stock coolers along with MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan curve. Have you tried running Vantage yet? |

Ok just figured out that my fans were all screwed up... so ive flipped the fans and my temps are a high of 48c way lower than i had before but, im still going to buy some beast of fans to replace the ones that came in my HAF 932 I am guessing I need 5 120mm fans?
Does that sound right, 2 for the top, 2 for the bottom and 1 for the front?

If I remember correctly, you live in the UK. In which case we are experiencing a nice 20+ degrees these few days. So, 50C under medium load is awesome, not so if they are idling at that temp. What is the temp when under load?

72c is very reasonable! 90ish is what you should try to keep 'em under!
Manchester: GPU-Z is the best temp monitoring prog for all temps on the gfx card
