need help building a gaming computer

I am a first time poster and a first time computer builder. I have been doing my research on what parts to get for a few weeks now and this is what I have so far:

CPU: i7-930 (bought)
Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D-E (bought)
Graphic card: XFX 5870
Power Supply: Corsair 850TX (bought)
RAM: Corsair Dominator 6GB (3 x 2GB) (bought)
Harddrive: 1 tb Samsung Spinpoint F3 x2 (bought)
DVD-RW Drive: Asus (bought)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU Cooler: Corsair H50
Case: HAF X

Any suggestions on whether I should add/change anything?
Would an 850w power supply be enough to power an over-clocked CPU and 2x 5870 graphics cards?

for the case i really suggest HAF922 or 932

I would go for a quality air cooler over the H50. Something like a Megahalems, even a Cooler Master V8. Cases are a matter of taste. I think the HAF's are quite ugly, but many love them and as far as features go the HAF's are very good. Make sure your O/S is 64 bit as well. The 850TX is an excellent choice.

I'll second the Noctua NH-D14 CPU HSF mentioned above for the i7 930, but the H50 is fine as well and with some work can be improved.

You didn't ask about cases but since they were mentioned above: the HAF 932 would give you good cooling for this rig. Depending on your budget, Silverstone's Raven RV02 would also be worth a look and should cool this setup even better. Also check out the AZZA Solano 1000 or 1000R as they are great cases for the money to house this type of machine.

Corsair's 850TX will power two 5870s in your proposed rig just fine, even taking overclocking into account. Each 5870 should max out around 180w power consumption, and the 850TX provides enough PCI Express connectors for two 5870s. In fact, even a 650TX would be fine in that rig with two 5870s, but the 850TX is a fine choice. Also consider a Rosewill PSU for performance per dollar with good noise/ripple (but ask before buying if you go Rosewill as the models vary).

I picked the Corsair H50 based on the reviews i have read around about it. I heard its one of the best cpu cooler for the money around right now. As for the case, I'm going with the cooler master haf 932 or i might just wait for the haf x, I want as much space as possible for future upgrades.

Make sure you match your ram to your motherboard, on my first build I bought the wrong type. Corsair Dominator comes in DDR2 and DDR3 flavors, you'll want DDR3 for that build.

Everything looks very nice only thing I would say is maybe go for a CORSAIR 750HX 750 would be enough juice, and it's modular witch I love! (I have heard that the hx series do have slightly nicer parts inside but i don't remember where I heard that from) only bad thing is that it's sold out

For a good "cheap" cooler, a Hyper 212+ would work well.

As for a case I personally like the CM 690 series. A CM 690 II Advanced would make for great airflow and looks.

Just bought the 850tx for $109.99 + $20 rebate on newegg. I figure im gonna try to save as much money as i can while i build this gaming computer. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Personally, I don't really care for the looks, I just look for best performance and being future proof. Cooler master HAF is a big case, so I wouldn't have any trouble for any future upgrades and it also has lots of ventilation. I appreciate your recommendation!

It is slightly cheaper and performs slightly better than the H50, which I was also considering for my build. It is also very sturdy, and so it should be good for a first time system builder.

Hyper 212+ will not be able to cool the i7 efficiently, its a bit too weak for that monster. If you are going for the Noctua NH-D14, be careful of ram clearance issues, some of the people have to dremel the Noctua because their rams are too tall. You will most likely use the case for some time (unless you want a new case), so pick something solid.

Looks like a very nice rig.

One case that i personally think looks awesome is the Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced case. Lots of space to work inside and lots of places to install fans. As for the CPU cooler the H50 is pretty good from what i hear, but as erocker said, a nice air cooler would do some good. I have a Megahalems cooler and it's great and i would definitely recommend it for that CPU, you'll get some nice clocks out of it.

As for the case, I think I'll wait for the Cooler Master HAF X, it has everything I need for any future upgrades. As for the CPU cooler, I'm gonna have to go with the CoolIT system, like what the majority here have recommended. I appreciate the recommendations!
