Fan Recreates Final Fantasy Battle Inside StarCraft II

Quote:
I used to be a pretty big fan of the Use Map Settings games in the original StarCraft, but this is just downright amazing. It really does show how scalable and customizable the new Blizzard engine is. I can’t wait to see what kind of mod games and maps users create.

Wow, sc2 worldeditor really looks beefed this time around.. I remember back then, I had enough trigger and script knowledge in wc3 to sink a ship.. wc3 camapaigns were good but the world edittor was better! Imo, the world edittor is the heart of the bliz application. You can create any kind of game out of it. The retail box contains 2 products in one.

Looks like sc2 will eat up my time once again

Very much. And youll see first waves of clones.. several map authors with copypasted map layout sporting dota like gameplay.. and would pretty much go back to the AoS roots.

That is definitely cool, though I foresee a potential problem.
It does demonstrate the flexibility of the editor, but doesn't mean that we're going to see an actual proper Final Fantasy mod floating around after Starcraft releases. Why? Because FF games are immensely long in contrast to the average game, and are quite often considerably in-depth. The odds of one or several people spending the time required to recreate a FF experience would be more time than it's worth. And we're not talking about just the battle sequences, what about character development, storylines, cutscenes etc?

Also, it would not be shocking if Square stepped in and wagged their finger. Should they? Nah, but they probably will.

Maybe if:
You didn't call your parents fags
You didn't call yourself "hacker" on the internet
You learned to spell "awesome" and "assassin"
they might think you are mature enough to get the game. -Davidelmo
