Free program to record sound

Hey Guys...

I want to record a sound from a game so I can use it as a ringtone but don't know how or what program to use.

Can some one point me to the right direction?

Thanks

The SoundRecorder in Windows might do the job if you can record audio from the default output... some cards allow it, others don't - a FRAPS demo might get the job done if you know how to pull the audio out of a video file - if all else fails, just use the phone itself to record the ringtone.

I use free Hiq Recorder from Roemer Software. It's simple to use and works really well.
The free version records @ 96kbps. I then use Cdex to convert sound up to 128kpbs or 320kpbs.

Cdex:cdexos.sourceforge.net/

Hope this helps

If it only records at 96kbps, converting it to 128 or 320 doesn't do you any good. It's a complete waste of bitrate and space. It basically just adds a bunch of zeros. The quality of compressed audio is determined by the lowest common denominator. In this case, that's 96kbps. You will never get it to sound any better than 96kbps.
