I Dont get SplinterCell Conviction Plz Explain.

Hi everyone, i just ended splintercell conviction....
I have played splinter cell pandora tommorow a little bit and i have completed splinter cell Double agent. Now i played the last DoubleAgent on ps2 and the story was quite amazing.
But i dont get the story of Conviction after that. New characters that i never herd of and sam killed lambert somehow. When(i dunno).
And the other characters sam already knows which i never saw before and conviction doesnt continue after double agent. Confused

Plz explain

I think some of the characters were from the days of Chaos Theory.

you could have killed lambert in double agent.

conviction is a continuation of double agent, and the story does fit - it's just a shoddy mess and not put together very well. the pieces are there though.
