Galaxy Designs Non-reference GTX 480 with Vapor-Chamber Cooling

Galaxy displayed a new GeForce GTX 480 graphics card that uses non-reference design PCB and cooling. The unique selling point here is a cooler that Galaxy claims to be superior than the reference, making use of the Vapor-chamber technology for quickly transferring heat off the GPU to the heatsink. It also features a very Gundam-styled cooler shroud the company has been toying with on several of its recent designs. The GeForce GTX 480 packs 480 CUDA cores, and 1536 MB of memory across a 384-bit GDDR5 interface. Clock speeds are not known at this point.

Looks awful, surely all that plastic is a fire hazard...

That "Fermi GPU inside" writing on the card is very useful, someone might think there is a Cypress GPU instead.

Looks like its using the same fast fan from the reference cooler. Also, I think the reference is better, since the plate seen in the reference is more than just aesthetics, but also helps dissipate heat.. as well as the heatpipes sticking outside.

I like this gundam plastic coolers, although they don't give the card any beauty, it reminds me of my old toys.

I don't know of fire hazard crow1001, but I think in a badly cooled case or a SLI solution the most likely thing to happen is the plastic melting. And that would be entertaining to see.

Oh well, keep on going Galaxy!
