9800 SE Hardmod, help??
I have a Powercolor 9800 SE 256bit "L" shape version. When i softmod it it works fine, no artifacts and i can overclock it up to 410 clock and 350 memory on the stock cooler. I want to hardmod it so i got out my soldering iron and soldered the connections togeather, but when i flashed the 9800PRO bios (380,340) onto it, it artifacts heeps. It has Hynix 2.8 memory.
By artifact i means the screen just does all sorts of random shit.. is it possible my ram is actually something else and what has been writen on it is just a overprint? But like i said before im running it currently with the softmod drivers and ATiTool recognising all 8 pipelines, what am i doing wrong?

the only thing i can think of is that the bios you flashed to is incompatible with the ram on your card in some way, are there any other bios' that you could try becasue it should work fine if the softmod works.

see thats what i thought but its labled as hynix 2.8's (some large serial number that if i google it sends me to a hynix pdf) what would happen if i did try another rom i.e. if i used the samsung one rather than the hynix one would it just stop working or...?

i have a similiar card, powercolor 9800se with hynix 2.8 rams. here's what i've discovered works with my card: it's any 9800pro bios with samsung edie rams. if i use hynix bios i get lots of artifacts. oh... and make sure you have a pci card handy when trying out different bioses.
