Console Rebirth, vs Evolution?

So, after watching E3 and the pattern the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii have all taken since release. Are we entering a new age, where hardware is simply revised and updated and the name slightly changed? Verses a Nintendo->Super Nintendo->N64->Cube->Wii ? I mean when it comes down to brass tax, the console market is essentially a bunch of computers designed solely, for entertainment.

Gotta admit, I wish I could watch the commentary on when the Wii came out, PS3 and MS cracking jokes on how much it would fail, and now there scrambling to get a taste of that market...

I personally will be buying a Kinect, along with this bad boy...

I saw a report saying that the Kinect is jumpy and laggy quite a bit, hopefully they work all that out before release

actually I'm more interested in PS3 move, because of its accuracy so it will be perfect for FPS and fighting game and not just kiddie, workout and silly dancing title.

Yeah, thats why they used recorded footage for some (maybe all) of the E3 show

Sony can keep the UberDildo, Im not interested! if I wanted to go down that road, I would wait for the Wii HD/Wii 2.

tbh, I'm actually like kinnect more but like dan said, it still laggy and jumpy, so it will fail to use it for FPS or fighting game.

and btw I will buy Wii if it have a graphic like X-box 360 or PS3, but right now its MEH

These motion controls seem pretty cool, but I prefer PS3's move so far, kinect just doesn't appeal to me yet, maybe its because of the titles they've announced for it to baby for me but wateva, no biggy one thing I don't like is having all these damn camera's in my house or room I should say, I mean the kinect is basically a motion tracking camera, and you need the playstation eye toy camera as well I feel like the government and all these greedy arse corps are watchin our asses (paranoia anyone)

I wouldn't buy a 120hz T.V. there are already proto-types out (actual T.V. size, not 3DS size) that work without glasses...

Other than that, rumour is that the kinect doesn't work while sitting down... So if you like to sit you might want to the kinect a pass.

I'd buy the move, but the cost + the movement controller (even though it can be controlled via sixaxis) is too high...

There has to be potential for angling games using this technology, many users have a great deal of experience sitting in front of the screens, rod in hand.

maybe it will push palyboy to produce some games ? after all they could use the force-feedback in it, and make a huge profit after years of losses from female gamers.

Wii had it right--motion sense in the controller and not much else unless you are on the balance board. These camera-based motion sensing doo-dads don't interest me at all. The whole concept of gaming for me revolves around relaxing. Flicking a wrist or something that the Wii requires fits that bill--acting like a monkey does not. At this point, I have zero interest in any of the next gen consoles.

The Conduit, COD 4, COD WAW make use of the FPS function for Wii.

Rez (the music/visual "hacker" game for ps2 which has a release on xbox 360 arcade "rez hd" if anyone is interested) has the following: [NSFW] link (no bad images, just some interesting discoveries about a certain peripheral).

As for the evolution of consoles, i think ms and sony have the right idea at the moment - they have some solid consoles out at the moment, why throw all the development on those consoles out the window when they can experiment with new control schemes on them first - if they take off they can develop and integrate the new controls into their next consoles, if not they can save a lot of development time.

I will be getting kinect when it is released - i'll enjoy the dancing game for some fitness (you'd be suprised how good dancing is for your fitness) and because i'm sure good games will come - children of eden (a new version of rez - look at how rez plays and imagine that with arm movements for the controls) looks to be good, as will a star wars game when it gets released - i hear the "lag" with kinect is about 100ms in real terms, which is fine by me as long as games take that into account and don't expect controller style reaction times. The baby tiger childrens' game demo was amazing - if i had kids i would be getting that in a heartbeat.

As for playstation move i will also be getting that but not at release - it looks better than the wii but still doesn't provide the immersive control you can get with kinect - with kinect if i want to duck out the way of an incoming rocket i could just duck - with move i guess i'd still have to press "o" or "x" or something, which isn't as immersive. Still i feel both have their uses - i'm sure we will see a hybrid kinect with move controllers in the future to give the best of both worlds, and only in certain games (i know you won't replace the controller with these controls, but some games can get a benefit).

I'm really excited about move and kinect - imagine a hybrid of the 2 schemes with 3d cameras and motion sensing button stick controls combined with a few projectors in an eyefinity setup with full 3d in a room where the projectors cover all the walls with a 360 degree game surround environment. It's almost a holodeck dammit!

I'll pass on both MS and Sony alternative because they seem rather odd (dont want to put any words here that are inappropriate ). After i am tired from work the least thing i want to do is move like an idiot and try to play a game instead of sitting on the couch or bed and play the damn game.
