GMA3150 is nice (comapred to GMA950). Though i wonder why can't they stuff 500GB drive in it, preferably a Seagate Momentus XT... Or a Scorpio Blue 500GB if they have to...

GMA3150 is the same as the GMA950 except for its packaged on the same chip as the cpu.

N455 denotes DDR3 support compared to the N450 which is DDR2.

I'm guessing the battery used in the picture is probably like the 3 cell 3~4 hour battery and the actual 15 hour battery will come out of the back tumor-like. Probably increasing the weight to 1.3kg as well...

There's no way it does 15 hours on a 3 or 6 cell. I have an MSI wind ECO u110, and it does 12 hours, but uses a 9 cell..

I wish they did a 1366x 768 resolution instead, either to be 10" or 12" (they could add more battery to that to fill the inches. )

there is way - the use of DDR3 & the N455 being more energy efficient the the N280 @ the same clocks, google says your MSI wind u110 has a Atom Z530 processor, the Z530 was released in 2008. I would say technology has come a long way since 2008. the Atom Z530 was probably a 'pilot' or 'prototype' chip to test the market before pushing the design further, the same way Intel released Core Duo mobile processors on laptops first before coming out with the Core 2 Duo line for desktops.

its just the way it is, and who are you to argue with progress?

the new ones integrate more into the CPU, and get rid of the power hungry NB chipset that the early atoms used.


there hasnt been many advances in tech in those 2 years, but when you're dealing with such a low wattage system even a small saving can add large amounts of time to the battery life.
