good free program to put video into iphone?
please recommend me a program to convert video to mp4 format for iphone. there are a bunch out there but i dont know what to choose...

if you want to rip dvd's to iphone video, that will be a different app than just doing conversion from one format to another.

I use media coder. its open source. When you run it there are UI tools for various devices. I pick the IPhone/IPod one, then you just check which you have on the window that pops up, and click start. converts all my videos to mp4 for me.
