It'll be nice to see their new cards. I'm all for new stuff coming out.

That's cause they didn't have an eXtreme part for him.

I feel sorry for nVidia. Only way for them to jump back to the top is to dominate the flagship card of the 6xxx series with their GTX 495 or whatever its going to be called.

yes coz the market share for such a card is enormous nvidia need a competetive low and mid range cards, because thats what they are missing and thats why they are in that mess now

Your correct though if they do put out one powerful card (Ex GTX 490/495) for about $1000, and if three users buy the card, its just as if 15x GTX 460s were sold. They don't need such a big market. That small market is more than enough

They already have midrange cards (GTS 450, GTX 460)... Now its time to bring out the monster which means price drop in GTX 470/480.

It will take just over 2 years for NVIDIA to get back in the game IMO. Now that they've cancelled all 40nm orders from TSMC which makes ATI getting 40nm very easy. Don't know what the hell NVIDIA is doing but thank goodness FINALLY there Arrogance finally caught up with them

Nvidia really cancelled all of their 40nm stuff?! Did they stop making GTX 460's already? What about the other GF104's and GF106 GPU's? Going to need proof to back that up. I just don't see it being believable, unless they have 32 or 28nm parts on the way and at this point that seems very unlikely as well.

yea i'm missing something here as well. i don't see how they could cancel all of their 40nm stuff....it's all they have going right now. Unless they magically built up a massive stock to last till their next release. Which i highly doubt with all their yield problems.

It may take that long to get back up from 49% <<(NVIDIA) market share but, they (NVIDIA) currently have the fastest single GPU solution on the planet and I am not a green fanboy as I am a Red fanboy. But back on topic I am very anxious to see what ATI brings to the table next!

performance wise, yep Nvidia when considering single gpu configs is the leader. Tho overall we all know that Nvidia is the one that's hurting. Honestly i would have thought that Nvidia would've seen most of the issues that would arise with Fermi, makes me wonder why they didn't try a more simplified version first n then implement more once 28nm takes hold.

Sources in both Santa Clara and the far east tell SemiAccurate that Nvidia is canceling wafer starts on 40nm. ATI can't get enough, the industry is on massive allocation, and Nvidia is giving up some of those precious wafer starts. Ironically, these excess wafers will probably go to ATI, a company who's products do not seem to be affected by those darn prevailing economic conditions or RAM fluctuations. Imagine that!

If I'm not mistaken "wafer starts" = No new archetecture on 40nm process. Meaning Nvidia will continue to produce current designs on 40nm.

That is what I meant to say, there's no reason why they would stop selling 40nm Fermi. This is good news for AMD's Southern Islands but bad news for NVIDIA IMO.

hmm if their rocking the 6800's in October, we should see 28nm before the end of 2011

AMD hasn't made the move off 40nm yet. Next step will be 32nm and then 28snm. Just a die shrink from ATI to 32nm on the Current 5xxx series would be great. However they already have the temp/power draw under control at 40nm. I am betting 32nm will last all 2011 and 28nm will be mid 2012... But since the end of the world is in 2012 I guess that won't matter much..LOL.

32nm was cancelled. It's going from 40nm straight to 28nm. Figure we'll see the HD 7XXX series on 28nm late next year.
