Gainward 4850 dvi to dvi "no signal" issue
recently i bought viewsonic vp2365wb and since then can`t get it to work thru dvi conection.
I tried with several dvi cables, still doesn`t work. it just says no signal and the display immediately goes to standby (no picture at all, nor boot, BIOS or windows). through vga it works but limited. after installing several drivers (display and graphic cards) it still doesn`t show the proper resolution and/or refresh rates, which is a first for me, to have a display that doesnt work properly over VGA by it's native resolution.. reinstalling drivers doesn`t work. any suggestions?? my specs: Windows 7 32 asus p5ql pro intel quad q6600 gainward radeon 4850 |

If other monitors work with DVI connection, the OSD chip in the monitor may be bugged.

According to the user manual (page 10 and 12) you need to change the input method from VGA to DVI (either using the "2" key or through the OSD), but if you say that the monitor is not capable of displaying it's default resolution on VGA mode, I'll say that it's probably "broken".

when i switch from vga to dvi thru osd, display goes black for about second and then back again to vga! it probably tries to switch to dvi but realize there is no signal so switches back.

Try this, connect the display using only the DVI connection, tell the PC to restart, press the Del or F2 key to hold it on the BIOS screen then, using the "2" key of the monitor try to change the input mode (either single click or "hold for a while" click). If this does not solve the issue, it is most certainly broken and you need to RMA it.

unfortuanatly that doesn`t work either.
![]() All this time i thought that probably the graphics card is faulty, but since even with the vga conection with all drivers intalled windows still can`t identify the monitor or the resolution or the refresh rate, i'm thinking it might just NOT be the graphics card's fault. |
