I tend to agree, for some reason you can get a great sounding headset, but not one with a mic or you can get one that sounds mediocre but has a good mic, if someone could nail a good mic with great sound and not need an amp or have it be done via software and USB and put it together for sub $150, I would die from shock, then buy a pair.

Here is to hoping CM got it right.

There is, Steelseries Siberia V2. Or Sennheiser PC350. Both of them are not USB, but they sound really good for their price, as long as you have reasonable onboard. Well, you can get a cheap sound card with V2 for $150.

It appears that the CM Storm Sirius is no good for music but very good for gaming, while the V2 is more "balanced".

You might also want to take a look at modding the PC350 should you get it. Can't find the exact thread, but it should be in head-fi.org

Why not? Onboard is always going to be limited, no matter how you see it.
