help me to calculate my system power consumption

ok guys i need you to help me calculate my system's power consumption.
i wanna be sure that my PSU is not in danger.
best case scenario:
I5 750 @ 3400MHZ w/ downvolt to 1.13V (about the same TDP as stock).
Radeon HD5850 on stock
Geforce 8800GT @ small OC w/ downvolt (about the same TDP as stock) - only used for Physx (so thats 80% of the max TSP i think)
3 HDDs and a DVDRW.

worst case scenario:
I5 750 @ 4.22GHZ 1.4V
Radeon HD5850 on 1.15V @ 1Ghz core.
Gf 8800GT with small OC.
and all the other stuff.

PSU: HEC Cougar 550w, 40A on 12V rail.
thanks.

this kind of thing is impossible to calculate, because there is way too many variables.

you can buy power meters for like $30 Au at supermarkets, so i'm sure its cheap wherever you are too.

I think in a worst case scenario total comsumption is very close to 550W. If you want to be sure then remove the 8800gt or don't OC anything (i bet you won't notice the difference)

The formula in my sig can help with estimating CPU power consumption.

thanks, thats helping a bit. i saw cases of the HD4870X2 on a 40A psu like mine, and that GPU consumes way more then HD5850 stock + 8800GT anyway ill use my i5 on 3.4GHZ and GPU on 1.15V, hoping there will be no problems.

Just run something like Furmark and CPU Prime at the same time. That will max out the watts used by the video card and the GPU. If your PC stays on, you have a big enough power supply. It isn't rocket science. Even if it turns off, your power supply "isn't the danger". It won't be damaged by such an attempt. You would just need to replace it with a bigger one.

Does your computer work? Does your PSU not overheat? Everything stable?

If everything is going well with your system, you are in the "safe zone" There is also no way that your system pulls more than 550w overclocked or not.

OCCT PSU test is probably the hardest stress test one can find. My system running Cpu and Gpu on stock clocks uses 354 W running that, light overclock on Gpu raises power usage to 361 W. Same overclock on Gpu and running Cpu at 4.25 GHz bumps max power usage up to 509 W.

That's just a stress test, no real world situation will use so much power.
