I would've went for the Silver Arrow but the D14 is still a good cooler.

The Arrow is superior both as stick and with identical fan setups as shown by xbitlabs & vortex.co.

Edit: Not that I'm saying the D14 isn't a great cooler, one of the best really and I would pick either of them depending on which was cheaper.

I love Noctua coolers man I think you made a good move, it will support a 4+ ghz overclock on your i7 930 all while staying whisper quiet.

The D14 and Silver Arrow are so close in performance (about a degree at full fan speed) that the decision factor should be price. I went with the Arrow because it had free shipping at a shop with some other stuff I needed. In your case it wouldn't have been worth it to pay extra for the Arrow.

They are both great aside from the installation issues because of their size.

Yeah at least someday i will have a display of tens of different heatsinks, quite an awesome display. They last forever after all. Also wont get outdated, at least until a freaking awesome breakthrough comes, but aluminum and copper HSF are pretty much the best they can be already

No, you made a great choice. The Silver Arrow is a complete rip off of the D14 design, and the performance benchmarks on those sites show a 1C difference, negligible at best.

I own two D14s, one on a 1090t, and one on an i7 920, and there the best coolers I have ever had, easy installation, insane performance.

Ripoff not really since the IFX came earlier, but my guess the increased mounting pressure takes the arrow to the oh so slight lead

Noctua rip off of TR? The Silver Arrow is off Cogage Arrow which is off the old TR IFX-14.

I got a Noctua (2 now) since the mount is simple and better than what TR had out at the time. I still want to get the Silver Arrow just to see how it does with a 32nm fan though.

I was messing with my 920 again last night and I have 2 PWM Xigmateks (~1500 rpms max) on the Noctua right now. Ambient was 22C and in a closed case was able to keep the 920 under 80C running LinX full memory for 25 loops with ~1.26v core with llc.

Almost forgot how awesome it is.
