Motherboard IDE problem

I am having a problem with all of my IDE drives (My 2 DVD drives and my Hard Drive).
When I push the start button, the computer starts up, but the 2 DVD drives do not function properly as well as the hard drive.
The hard drive is not functioning and the 2 DVD drives will not open (1 had a solid green light on and the other has no light on).
For the DVD drives I have created the Master/Slave relationship and it is currently connected into IDE 2.
The hard drive is connected into IDE1.
So is the board diffective or is it something else?
Just for FYI...this is for my rig#2 in sig.

Is it just loading the bios then not loading the OS .(having to guess thats what might be happening as you have not said if it is loading the OS as i have had the same problem once before) Is the HD spinning up if yes it might be your IDE cable if you have a spare cable try changing the HD one . If it's not that have you got the IDE drivers installed (putting a new IDE cable in solved my problem just hope it solves yours)

ok, first of all, replace all the IDE cables, get fresh rounded ones, dont need to get all fancy, 5-7 buck normal gray 80 line (2 per connector) rounded ide cables will do the job,

then configure in this way, hard drive as primary master,
DVD1 as secundary master, DVD2 as secundary slave, make sure they are all jumper configured to position and not left on cable select,

all masters must be connected to the connector at the end of the ide cable and slaves to the connector in the middle,

some ide controllers, especially via, hate having devices with different UDMA modes on the same IDE channel, and mixing PIO with UDMA will directly bring armagedon upon you,

Hello. I found this thread through Google. I bought parts for a new computer today and I'm having EXACTLY the game problem as the OP described. Except, I'm using 2 HDs on my primary IDE and 1 DVD/CD combo drive on the secondary IDE. I have tried every permutation and combination of jumper settings and IDE controllers to no avail. My BIOS cannot find anything at all. I have tried THREE different ribbon cables and 1 I know for sure works (borrowed it from a functional computer) with no progress. There is a solid green light on my optical drive and when I push the eject button it will not eject. If I remove the ribbon cable from the motherboard but leave it attached to the optical drive, the drive works and ejects normally (this also works if the cable isn't plugged into the drive at all). I have tried everything I know of and I consider myself very knowledgeable with computer hardware so this is highly frustrating. If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative.

My computer (with noted relevant components):
AMD 939 3800+ Dual Core Processor
A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2 80GB WD IDE HDs
Emprex CD-rw/DVD-rw combo

You have not by any chance bent one of the pins on the drive or the board for the IDE cable as that well/may cause the light to stay on (like it would if you put the cable in a floppy drive the wrong way round)

Just an update ...

Turns out the power supply was not supplying enough juice so the IDE devices were not getting recognized. The power supply was some off brand 600w. So I bought a nice 650w one and everything worked fine.

Lesson: Don't go cheapo on your power supply.
