Send me your BIOS dump asap.
BTW DO NOT USE THE BIOS FILE I POSTED. IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOUR CARD.
THE BIOSes ARE UNIQUE AND THEREFORE HAVE TO BE INDEPENTLY MODDED!!!

I fkn killed my card just now cuz i flashed Migou's HIS X1900GT bios. AND IT WASNT EVEN MODDED
Luckily, I have Intel Graphics Media Accelerator

I forgot to say that the card, after the flash, will remain as an X1900GT.

Migou, here is your modded BIOS. It was derived from the BIOS that you posted, so I am VERY SURE it works.

Please try and post results asap.

**DO NOT USE WINFLASH** i heard too many horror stories from it, and most of the time it does a BAD flash to your card.

use ATIFLASH, i was a n00b about it but i learned how to use it, read this post about BIOS flashing http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ing/vidcard/34 .

ATIflash:

1. download it

2. make a bootlabe floppy (right click it, then click "format", then check the box "Create a MS-DOS startup Disk")

3.unzip atiflash file to the Floopy

4.put the BIOS you want in the floppy too (code name it so you could remember, EXP: i named mine "LOL")

5.boot from floppy

6.type atiflash, then wait and a something like a manual will appear, just press any key to pass that.

7.type just like this "atiflash -s 0 oldbios.bin" thats so you could save ur old BIOS in case

8.type just like this "atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 lol.bin/rom " (btw do not put lol just put the code-name you gave to the bios)

9.done...

most of the time ppl get bad flashes because they dont type -newbios.

See my first post, and you will understand.
Rabit sees nothing but clocks, names and whatnot. You need a HEX Editor to actually see the changes made to the BIOS. I really suggest you upload your current BIOS so I can mod from there to prevent a fiascon that happend to me and hot_fifty.

EDIT: u dun need a floppy, jus use a usb drive or card reader to flash

damn, I should really scrap this thread
the damn thing doesn't work, apparently, only works for my card, which is now DEAD

this is becoming the X1800GTO unlock at HKEPC, it only works for them but not for anyone else...

I'm beginning to think that only a "special bunch" of the X1900GT's have the R580"PRO" (unlockable) core.

So, from now on, before sending me the BIOSes, open the BIOS with Rabit and see if the Description says R580 "XL", if it does, don't bother.

This is a problem from not using the -newbios command. Always flash cards like this:

atiflash -newbios -p -f 0 yourbios.bin

after setting up a atiflash bootdisk of course.

Tofu, I'm sorry what append with your card

Nevertheless I will try to flash the HIS bios moded by you just to confirm or not if you are rigth.

I will take the risk

Hop you find a way to force ATIFlash to write back your bios, even if your card is not recognized any more .

hehheh, I used to think that every X1900GT uses the same core, turns out that there are two batches of cores put into the 1900GT. I suppose that this mod will simply no longer work. See my first post to find out why. Your HIS BIOS was the R580XL mine was the R580PRO, and therefore fked up.

I honestly do not undertstand wtf happend to my card. Right now I theorize that there are two types of cores on the X1900GT. Apparently, Migou's acrd had the R580XL core and I had the R580PRO core. The PCB and mem configuration on his card and mine are exactly the same. Now ATIFlash does not even find my card.

When I use this command: atiflash -i, it tells me I have no video adapters. I can sum up my X1900GT is dead. Not worth the price, but it was the first public unlock.

My note to all forum members, buy the ATI-branded and manufacturered X1900GT, I think they should have the R580PRO core, like I did. PS I got mine from BestBuy, when it first came out.
