Tough call. I'd go with the Toshiba because of better graphics, CPU and cheaper. Unfortunately it has less RAM.
BTW I've bought a couple laptops off CedarPC for mega-cheap. (Something like this one.)

Go with the Toshiba, you can always upgrade the RAM later on.

I haven't heard anything explicitly problematic, but Intel's integrated graphics does not support as robust a codec set as Nvidia and ATI (or so I hear). I remember reading about how Intel ITX boards with integrated graphics still needed external graphics for proper hardware acceleration in HD video (regarding HTPCs).

The AMD laptop is definitely the better one, though it's lacking in RAM, it's superior to the Intel laptop is almost every way. Then again, if all this laptop is going to be doing is school work, then you'd probably be better off with the Intel Laptop, as it's cheaper and also have as ability to expand to more memory. If you plan to be doing a bit of gaming every once in a while or are using some programs that tend to be a bit hardware taxing, then the AMD is overall the better pick performance wise.(just needs some more memory which you can easily get a hold of and add to the system)

And it seems like the AMD laptop has 256mb VRAM (enough for video), using shared mem if you need more; while the Intel has 100% shared memory. So the "lack" of RAM in the AMD system is compensated a little, as it seems. BTW, if it is just for school work, 3 GB should be enough (unless you do something with graphic design, CAD or so).

go for AMD one, its have better graphic and great driver than intel (its seems intel can't make a decent video driver, and the video quality is suck)

(Now on to the real question) Seriously if you notice the difference between the two cpus you'd be the first. Also 3GB of memory over 4GB should not be your deciding factor in this. Unless your using 20+ some programs at once the difference is negligible. Your deciding factor between these two is this: Graphics: Intel vs AMD Cost: 430 vs 400 This is really a no brainier but just in case.......get the AMD setup. Everything (and I mean everything here) that your going to use this laptop for is going to be better with the AMD setup. Don't short yourself.

I have a laptop with almost the exact same specs Aspire 5551 but its an acer if you want to know how it runs just ask or pm me k wolf
Intel Graphics HD(the new igp not the shitty 4500) do have newer drivers this year but they do still suffer the image quality problems in games but the performance is almost equal to the HD4200 and faster sometimes, the difference is that the HD4200 for notebooks can be overclocked. |

If these laptops are used for school then 3GB of mem is more than enough
