Yet another build thread

Hey folks,
Since I have a real job now, I am ready for a intel build.
This will replace my current machine that has been a good workhorse always on rig... but has slowed done some over the last 2 years.

Here's what I need recommendations for:

1. CPU - need to keep it close to $300... as fast and as many cores that money will buy - i7/i5? Since I havent ever built intel, am not very familiar with the current chips. do plan to OC some, on air... if there are unlocked, ready/easy to OC chips... that would be awesome.

2. MOBO - anything good with options to OC, voltage changes etc.

3. SSD - Something for the OS to boot up from. Something in the 80-100 gig range, I guess with TRIM.

4. RAM - Good OCable RAM - ?6gigs

5. A good compatible CPU cooler.

6. Case - Looking at the 800 Obsidian series or the HAF 922/932.

7. PSU - Was thinking something like HX 750?

How about just OC your processor a bit first? I see no reason to do so since that you have a nice cooler.

I have in fact OCed the Phenom to 3.4. She has been a hot one! I have gone upto 3.8, but the system has not been stable and heats up quite a bit.

You've got a beefy rig already, just sell the CPU and stick in a Phenom II X6 1090T, save you a lot of money and hassle.

i agree, least hassle, least expansive and u get 2 extra cores, it will keep u going untill next generation cpu's come out, thats when it gets interesting
