Verbatim Intros Store 'n' Go Netbook USB Flash Drives

Verbatim is cashing in on the netbook (ultra portable) phenomenon with its latest USB flash drives being tailored for netbooks. The Store 'n' Go Netbook USB drives from the company measure 17.15 (L) x 14.85 (W) x 7.7 (H), offering capacities of up to 32 GB, with read/write speeds of 11 MB/s and 3 MB/s. Other capacities available are 8 GB and 16 GB. Prices are expected to start at £12.43.

ummmm.... I can see where this would come in handy but imo id rather just buy a bigger hard drive for my netbook then use one of these and ontop of that you cant 'lose' a hard drive like you can lose a USB stick - especially one of this size, no doubt in 40years time some poor family will be rootin around in that couch you threw out n pull out this usb stick from it,

ontop of that - once you got one of these in you lose the use of a USB port. but prices look good. but it would probably take you about 1hr to write a 8-10Gb blu-ray disc rip so for that reason, im out

This isn't meant as a permanent storage expansion for netbooks(like a SD Card would be). I think it is more of a "hey look, it is small, and netbooks are small they go perfectly together". Nobody wants a bulky USB drive sticking out of their netbook.

I can't wait for netbooks to take on usb 3, these things are great but the fact that it's usb 2 means it would take soooo much time to copy.

Once these things move onto usb 3 i will get one but untill then the bigger they get the less i would want one... anyone up for transfering 128 or 256gb at usb 2 speed?

maybe so - but they have a 4-8Gb storage - ok thats fine, back up a few word documents, pictures and other small files. maybe a few music albums and the odd 800mb porno. but this here is 32Gb you could use it to hold your hole music or anime collection on there or rip a few dvds to it.

but its great if you need to travel extremely light for long periods of time but cant or dont want to take a 2.5" portable HDD.

unless your some pro geek or a 50/50y.o thats been in uni since you were 18 theres no way to fill 32Gb full of word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets & excel charts etc etc. unless you use it not for netbooks but as portable storage for your CAD files and 3d animation projects/files etc etc

I'd use it just like any other USB Flash drive, that's what it is after all. I personally won't buy a flash drive under 16GB, and usually carry a 32GB around with me. People like me will buy the larger one, and normal users will buy the smaller ones. Its nice to have something this small with that much storage space. It might not be needed for normal usage, but every once in a while I do use almost all of my 32GB drive.

Every flash drive I own gets 3.5GB of software tools instantly loaded on it.

Excuse me? A quick look at Ebuyer (basically UK's newegg) and 32GB USB Flash drives start at £40.

If these are available for £15 then I'm getting one.
