EDGE Tech Corp. Releases 32GB MicroSDHC Card

EDGE Tech Corp announces the release of its 32GB microSDHC Memory Card (Class 4), currently the largest capacity microSDHC card in the market, to increase available storage in the booming smartphone market. EDGE is a leading U.S.-based supplier of DRAM and flash memory upgrades, portable computing products, storage devices, and other experience-enhancing technology solutions.

MicroSD and microSDHC are the most popular memory cards for upgrading mobile phone storage. Measuring roughly half the size of a fingernail, the EDGE 32GB microSDHC Memory Card stores approximately 21,000 photos, 8,000 MP3 files, or 32 hours of HD video*. A Class 4 speed rating ensures a consistent transfer speed of at least 4MB/s.

EDGE Tech Corp Product Development Manager, Brandon Coles, said, “Today’s smartphone market is making an incredible impact on daily life. Consumers are saving the same amount of photos, music, videos, and other files on their phones as they have on their home computers. Larger mobile phone capacities are needed to meet these storage demands, and a 32GB card makes that easy.”

For added versatility, the EDGE memory card is bundled with a full-size SDHC adapter. With the adapter, users can convert the microSDHC card into a full-size SDHC card, making it easy to insert and use in cameras, camcorders, gaming systems, laptops, and other devices that accept SDHC.

The prices on these 32GB microSDHC cards need to drop. I wouldn't mind upgrading for more storage but am holding off for now.

Imagine showing one of these to a guy in 1996 or something, when 1GB 3.5" hard drives were the hot new item. Amazing to think how far we've come.

Think of what will be crammed into that space in another 15 years. Possibly entire PCs

Well, multiply the latest HDD sizes by 32 and perhaps you'll have your answer.

3TB x 32 = 96TB

Hard to imagine, but so is going from 1gb to 3000gb in the course of 15 years. Having 32gb in a card smaller than your smallest fingernail didn't seem possible in 1996, either.

The day they introduce new NAND-type memory that doesn't wear down is the day I get really excited.
