New Call of Duty game (Not Black Ops!)

I just think this is so much fail it burns my mind but here you go.......

Call of Duty: IN SPACE.....SPACE.......SPACE

Quote:
Rumor: Sledgehammer's Call of Duty Takes Place in Space, Future

We already knew Sledgehammer Games was working on a Call of Duty title for Activision, but details have been light. When will it take place?
In a Gamasutra report, Chris Morris explains that "industry sources say Sledgehammer's Call of Duty will be set in the future and feature, for lack of a better term, space Marines, a very big step for a franchise that has historically based itself on realism."

Originally announced as an action-adventure title, the Sledgehammer game will be a first-person shooter in the franchise according to its website. Whatever the game is, Activision will be investing heavily in it and other Call of Duty titles, according to statements made on its most recent earnings call.

Sledgehammer Games is run by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, who both left Electronic Arts and Visceral Games to form Sledgehammer for Activision.

Ugh.... I'm so sick of space. Every damn thing is now in space! Every game, movie, band, sport, show, and sport is obsessed with bringing us the same thing.... but with *Space* somehow involved.

It is like every long running TV series and a "bizarro" episode, it just happens.

James Bond... went to space.
Warcraft... went to space.
I'm just waiting for "Toy Story 4: Zero G!"

Wow. Just wow. I mean I guess we have run out of battlefields kinda. WWII was way overdown in the early 2000s, and in the mid 2000's to now they have overdone the modern warfare (no pun intended), so I guess the only battlefield we can choose from now is the future? Well, until video game technology advances (IE 3D), I don't see a better solution. This is a logical progression, carry on then.

I wouldn't mind. I'm a big fan of the Civil War, and would more than likely enjoy it.

As far as Call of Duty: In Space...Well, odd. Hopefully they add the part about all your body turning inside out if you lose your space helmet

CoD in space. Sounds more Bungie than Sledgehammer.

Problem with the civil war is the pace of it. Let's put it this way, if you have ever messed around with black powder weapons you know that the pace of shooting them is a shot a minute, if you want to shoot accurately and not overload your gun. In the game let's say 1 shot per 10 seconds to be fair. I'll just say right now, how fun would that be? You being a foot soldier on the front lines, shooting mindlessly at a person. Not fun at all. Too slow paced. Now the saber and sword play would be a fun aspect, and bayonet charges too, but come on, I don't think the game would sell that well. However I would love to see the smoke effects in game. Now that would be neat to see.

Valid point. But that's why it would be fun. It'd take more skill than just spraying everywhere to kill someone. I think it could incorporate more strategy as well.

Standing in formation and charging forward under heavy fire in an orderly fashion... Its not COD style tbh! The uber knifers would be pissed off I'd guess. Can't see it working in the civil war era. Now who knows? I wonder, if we've seen acog's in nam, what will there be as uber attachments in the civil war? 4x scopes? lol. That would be unreal! Killstreaks would be easy though, mortars and canons, could work well. Other than that, the game would be boring.

The bonuses would be horrible. Come on, how do you do airdrops? You don't. What do you have, railroad cars coming in with the bonuses?

Also, I was pissed to see red dot sights and ACOGs during the 60's, no doubt during the civil war they will have insane objects. They did have telescopic sights during the civil war, but on a very small scale, and they were very big. If there is a civil war, they will push the limits of technology, IE Spencer Carbine, etc. However, I would love to see the LeMat pistol, the one with the 16 gauge shotgun on the bottom. That would be a neat side arm to have.

Oh, so Activision decided to make a Halo clone, brilliant! First the obsession was WWII; now, as makwy2 pointed out, the obsession is space. Both got old. We need more creativity in the game industry.

We could take back sputnik and go wild west (if you've seen Toy Story 2 you know what I mean).

OK, that was a bit cryptic. Go watch Toy Story 2, then read the post.

I quite like sci-fi themed games and before I start panning it like everyone else on here, I'll wait until the finished product comes out and it's properly reviewed before passing judgment on it.

Considering that all the previous efforts have been fantastic, I think it's reasonable to expect it to be pretty good.

I think they could do a Civil War COD game. Just set it in modern day US and pretend the Teabaggers got militant and Alaska, Florida, and Texas tried to leave the union.

That could work. Anyone here good at scriptwriting?

How about a western possibly.

Maybe add one with generic stereotyped hillbillys in the mountains.
Have the hillbillys making their weird noises to make use of surround and freak us out.
When they go you......well it's Deliverance all over again.

It would make a lot of guys alt-f4 before the time comes.

Will we still be getting Modern Warfare 3 next year? (we bloody better because they left the story open at the end of MW2).

A CoD in space sounds terrible. A CoD set in the future with advanced weaponary may be cool, but just not in space!

Maybe they could do CoD:Civil War by sending Soap and Price back in time to clean up the Confederates.
