but damn, what is up with the IDE!!!!!!!!!!! yes I-D-E!!!! c'mon ffs its 2010/2011 time to cut that shit along with pci slots and floppy

(yes i know the board doesnt have floppy, hint GB!)

i love the color scheme though, and even if the board is very sparse populated i love the looks, but layout could be better, so lets hope its nothing but a sample board, and that they will use reviewers and US!! to redesign those boards

Yes, I was gonna ask the same thing, my DDR3 modules are rated for 1.65v @ 2000Mhz, but I think they run at a lower voltage @ 1600Mhz, and was planing on using them.

Anyways, thanks for the preview, I'm looking for a P67 mobo that has an nForce 200 controller to go SLI @ 16x on this new rig I'll build next month paired to an i7 2500K, that eliminates this mobo from my candidates, as I didn't see such controller was mentioned in the preview; do you guys have any suggestions? Thank you.

Well out of experience I can tell you that my P55 board can do 2V easily - see the memory reviews of ours, so I do no think that it is set in stone...While Intel will tell you what they allow in terms of warranty and the likes, that does not mean that the memory controller cannot cope with more.

The high-end Z68 motherboards are the most likely bet for a board having NF200. Plus they sound the best bet for overclocking.

Wish Intel would integrate USB3.0 into their chipsets, so all ports would provide it. It's not like "light peak" is being rolled out.

Have you seen the packaging from other manufacturers? They are all specific to the board within the box. All with loads of information and the likes.

The Foxconn boards all come in the exact same box, with no product specifics on there anywhere. Just a big sticker with the model name on the front. Now imagine you have 5 Foxconnn packages filled with 5 different boards in front of you - with 5 different price points.

Now choose one

Not as fun and easy as having a detailed spec list somewhere on there or pointer to unique features...

Have been looking for any official info on this chipset but so far haven't found any announcement from mobo manufacturers about mobos sporting the Z68, even though most of them already showed their P67 mobos.

Does this mean this chipset doesn't really exist? Or maybe it means it'll be relased a long time after Sandy Bridge hits retail? That would mean that it's better to wait a few months before upgrading.

Is it possible that this chipset will be used for socket 2011 only procs near the end of the year? I just wish there was more info on the Z68 to make a more informed purchasing decision. What's your take on this subject?

I've seen some nForce 200 P67 mobos announced by Asus and EVGA, but seeing that the Z68 is supposed to have better overclock potential, should I wait?

Totally agreed.

I have a Blu-Ray player and a DVD writer. Thats 2x SATAs.

That leaves just 4 Hard Drives? Ok people might say well buy 4 x 3TB drives and you have 12Tb but most people have many drives from older computers and don't want/need/can't afford to buy new ones for the sack of it.

Plus, people might like an SSD which means another SATA is taken up with very little storage.

All this coupled with not many x16 lanes and most importantly (to me) no USB 3 throughout is really pushing me over to Bulldozer. They will probably be cheaper too!

Does anybody know if anyone has made a USB 3 memory card reader yet? Seems like a easy and important thing to make but can't find one anywhere.

the cards themselves are the performance limits, not the readers. for now, it would be a useless product.

What are you talking about? My UDMA 6 CompactFlash card is capable of around 100mb/s, USB 2 tops out at about 25-30mb/s.

You have to buy FireWire 800 to get close to those speeds but they are expensive and limited.
