SSD Help!!!!!
Well I got my SSD in and installed her along with two other HDD. Everything went ok after a number of different installs and restarts. I rebooted one last time and now I get "Disk read error. Hit Ctl+Alt+Del to restart. Now I cant even get into my OS. WTF is wrong! Did I not set something up right in the bios or something???

Oh I wiggled the wire and it booted up. So I switched ports and it booted up again. I think the cable wasnt pushed in all the way or the cable itself is going bad. Would a bad cable cause this?

A bad cable would cause any drive to not function correctly; temperamental behaviour or if not that it'll cause 'damage' to the drive.
I've formatted an SSD and it's not caused any negative issues with the drives, then again these we're all Gen-1 Intel based drives. I've always had it in my head that it's defragging that causes all the unnecessary reads & writes that reduces the life of the drive. Sounds to me as if you've got a crappy SATA cable.

google it, I cant remember but I know it will shorten the life of the drive big time if formatted. Plus formatting the drive leaves dirty cells behind which slows the drive down.

Still going good. Leave it to me to find a bad cable installing a new SSD. How many reboots you figure till I'm safe?

Over 9000 I'd say. Do you feel the speed difference with the new SSD?

Are you using LATCHING SATA cables? Dont buy anything else. The (small) extra cost is well worth it to avoid the suffering and trauma of unreliability.
