Furmark OpenGL HD5870 vs. GTX480
Furmark 1.7.0,
Cat 10-10, HD5870 Forceware 260.99, GTX480 Core2 8600 @ 4.2 Ghz, HD 5870, Furmark (1280x1024 FS) = 8760 i750 @ 3.2 Ghz, GTX480, Furmark (1280x1024 FS) = 7305 Is that normal for the cards, or is it processor speed?

It could be the processors. The cards should really be tested in the same system for proper comparison.

Hmmm... perhaps I should set my CPU to stock and see what I get on the 5870.
According to this set of slides: http://developer.amd.com/media/gpu_a...anceTuning.pdf The CPU can indeed be a bottleneck. Should have looked at the CPU perf monitor to see how many cores Furmark was using.
