You talking about Fermi cards having issues with being plugged into PCI-E 1.0 slots?

no I'm talking about exactly what my first post states. The drivers won't load correctly even on a fesh install. I have heard the HDMI HD driver cause trouble on some boards.

Tried that Gigabyte says their non ref cards don't like their 790XT motherboard (figure that out) and that it's a driver / chipset problem. I know they are right because today I tried a non ref gtx 460 from them with the same trouble. However, the ref PCB gtx 460 talon that I sold works fine. So it looks like some ones gonna get a hell of a deal on a SOC gtx 470 and is in perfect condition.

Okay this is from newegg look familar

FYI I tried a new Blue PCB Non Ref Gtx 460 from Gigabyte and got similar results as I did with my Blue PCB Non ref Giga SOC gtx470

read below

Rating: 1/5RMA'd
Pros: Great when it works!

Cons: Had the same issue as others with the hanging at Windows 7 welcome screen, but no problems booting in safe mode. Reinstalled OS, drivers, using driver sweeper and driver cleaner. Made sure not to install anything other than latest drivers i.e. no Nvidia audio. Could only make it through the welcome screen about 20% of the time. Narrowed the problem down though and pretty sure it's a driver:hardware communication issue. When I open up the case and unplug one of the PCIe power cables then reconnect, it boots properly every time. Returning for refund.

Other Thoughts: Never had this much trouble with a GPU before. Should have trusted my instincts and gone with my usual GPU manufacturer. Just ordered one to replace this. Makes me nervous about my Gigabyte motherboard!

Manufacturer Response:

and another one with a Gigabyte board

Rating: 1/5Same freezing issue
Pros: Not noisy, performed well when it worked

Cons: Freezes!

Other Thoughts: I purchased a gigabyte MB and two of these GTX 460 cards a little over 2 months ago. Things were fine for the first month and then I began experiencing occasional freezes. Now it's hanging every time I try to load windows. I will attempt an RMA but like the other reviewer find it ridiculous to have to pay for shipping.

This will be my first RMA with Gigabyte - pending how it goes I will decide whether or not to take them off my list of mfgrs to purchase from.

Another one

Pros: Box looked nice.

Cons: Drivers won't install. Tried the disc and nvidia drivers. Both failed.

The truth is lots of people had no trouble but I'm betting they had Intel boards. I think these Non ref Gigabyte video cards have trouble with AMD 790/ 750 chipsets. We will soon know because Bill will update us.

Rating: 1/5Untested product - typical
Pros: Looks Nice. Specs are Great.

Cons: Doesnt work. With Win 7 64bit freezes on loading screen right before desktop appears. Reloaded Win 7 fresh install same thing. Loaded Vista 32 bit just to see if it was driver related. Same freezeup. My GTX 260 has worked flawless for 2 years. I have tried swapping power supplies and whatnot but no go. Sad to because I have a fairly new gigabyte motherboard.

Other Thoughts: It's a known fact that Gigabyte does little to no testing in house to make sure there products work with each other. I guess i'll go back to buying BFG's and ASUS mobo's.

First item i've ever had to return to newegg. Hopefully there RMA turnaround is fast. To bad I wont be playing with my new card for the holiday comming up. Thanks Gigabyte.

Rating: 1/5Windows Freezes at startup
Pros: Dont have any yet. Card doesn't work.

Cons: Reloaded windows twice. Win 7 64 bit then tried Vista 32 bit. Allways hangs at windows startup right before the desktop appears. Tried many different drivers, ect. Nothing works. My GTX 260 runs perfect.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard is a Gigabyte, Video card is Gigabyte. Now i know why i always bought a BFG with an ASUS board in the past. Never again. Lets see how long it takes the RMA for a replacement now.

They lied to me acting at first like this was a bit of a revelation except I knew it was B.S when he asked did both cards post in safe mode. Then they fessed up. That their boards are having driver issues with these cards

That is weird that it's only on the AMD boards and not the intel boards. What would be the difference, I guess the chipset is the culprit. That still is weird. Did Gigabyte say if it's only on one chipset or several of them. I have an 890FX chipset I can try it on and see if it works on that one or not. I will update when I get home tonight and try my other Gigabyte 470 on my 890 chipset and see if it works on that one.

They think it maybe several things like the motherboards on board sound card / drivers conflicting with the onboard HD sound drivers for the none ref video card hardware. Thats why the ref cards don't have trouble. I find it hard to believe that two cards were bad in a row and Ggabyte agreed. Plus my cards were doing exactly what these other people in the reviews were listing. Gigabyte said if it makes it booting up in safe mode that indicates the hardware is fine and it's drivers. Plus it was acting like a driver issue and had all the tell tale sign watch and see I'm betting it boots right up in your x58 board.

I bet it would if you have a onboard sound card.I just tried the GTX 460 from Gigabyte with the Blue PCB again and it froze upon reboot at the Vista load screen and the sound went nuts. I tried removing the nvidia sound drivers with driver cleaner and then disabling the HD sound on the video card but it didn't do a thing. So other drivers must be effected, really strange. This Gigabyte gtx 460 is very good looking in person and the cooler rivals the Hawk, but the fxxcker won't work.

I have my 460 Gigabyte in my 890FX board and it works great. I have NP at all with it. I almost bet the 470 will work also, since they are basically the same drivers. I will test when i get a chance and see what happens.

Is it a ref model gtx 460 , because these aren't and thats the issue. Ref model gtx 460 cards work great in my motherboard.
