My icons keep changing, why?
For some (very odd) reason, my icons keep changing from one to another. Sometimes the IE icon has the Windows Media player icon and vice verse.
I have run ESET since I thought it to be a virus.. It's not. Could it be that my HDD is losing it? |

Run Malwarebytes too just to be on the safe side. I've had viruses that did exactly that. Otherwise.. I hope someone else can help.

your icons keep changing because they are not who they were before and they are using the opportunity presented to them via your admin account to show people how they really feel by expressing individualism.
hope this helps. EDIT: just kidding. At anyrate it might be the HDD but in all honestly the icon cache is damaged, I've run into the issue once or twice. The fix should be simple. Enable hidden files and folder and go into the windows folder. you should see a file called, "ShellIconCache" delete it. then reboot.
