Transcend Adds 750GB Shockproof Portable Hard Drives

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend) today announced the new 750GB capacity to its StoreJet 2.5” Portable Hard Drives. Featuring abundant storage capacity and a unique shock-resistant construction, the new larger StoreJet 25D2, StoreJet 25M2, StoreJet 25D3 and StoreJet 25M3 drives are perfect for users who need more space for storing and backing up important files.

The passport-sized StoreJet 25D2 is sleek and stylish with a mirror-like high gloss outer finish, yet it is also remarkably tough and rugged. Under its seemingly delicate case is an advanced internal hard drive suspension system that helps prevent damage caused by accidental slips or falls during travel. The StoreJet 25D2 is also offered in chic white, making it a perfect complement to Mac computers.

Known as one of Transcend’s best selling products, the StoreJet 25M2 sports a sophisticated three-stage shock protection system that incorporates a vibration-absorbing silicone outer shell, a reinforced hard casing, and an internal hard drive suspension damper as a last line of defense. The StoreJet 25M2 also meets rigorous U.S. military drop-test standards, making it one of the most robust portable hard drives available.

USB 3.0 Models—StoreJet 25D3 & StoreJet 25M3
Featuring blazing fast real-world transfer speeds of up to 90MB/s (in USB 3.0 mode), the StoreJet 25D3 and StoreJet 25M3 portable hard drives enable users to copy large files without having to waste precious time waiting for the transfer to complete. The StoreJet 25D3 is a perfect combination of style and performance. Along with its piano gloss-like exterior is an advanced internal suspension system that helps minimize hard drive vibration. The StoreJet 25M3 combines the advantages of Transcend’s award-winning shockproof StoreJet M series and the next-generation SuperSpeed transfer rates of USB 3.0, allowing users to enjoy ultra-fast file transfers and the highest level of anti-shock protection.

The above Transcend 2.5” StoreJet Portable Hard drives are backed by an extra-long 3-year warranty, and come bundled with Transcend`s own StoreJet Elite software.

Given one generally doesn't run hard drives in a way that it would need to be shockproof, I don't see the need for a consumer grade shockproof drive.

Car? Lots of head units support USB drives for music these days.

But will they support the audio codes, what's the advantage of this over a Zune, or an iPod, moreover, how would it be any cheaper ?

Most support at least aac and mp3, with some also offering wma or ogg.

And these should be cheaper per GB than a Zune or iPod, and hold a lot more music. Not saying you need 750GB, just naming a potential use for it.

Not always. Depends on what file types you have in your library, vs what your head unit plays.
