Monitors: LED vs slightly higher resolution?
I'm thinkng about changing my monitor. Currently I have an acer 23" 2048x1152. I love it, but am wondering if I am missing out on something better (ie: LED monitor?). The monitor change wouldn't really cost me money as I can probably sell my monitor at the same price as a 23" 1080p LED monitor
Many people talk about this TV have better Image Quality than that one etc, but shouldn't this be true for PC monitors also? (I'm talking about at the same price range). So I'm looking for the best 23" 1080p LED monitor around 180~240$, and wondering if it is any better than my current monitor?

If your Acer works fine, keep it. Spending money on a monitor just for "LED" doesn't make sense. If you NEED a new one, go with LED.

As a said, I won't be spending money really as I can basically switch monitors. I already have a potential buyer that would pay ~200 for my screen

LED doesn't make much difference. Panel type makes the biggest difference.
Screw what type of backlight it has, go IPS, or keep what you have. Otherwise it isn't worth it.

BTW: 178 degree vs 170 not much of a difference anyway , considering you sit right in center/front of the monitor all the time |

Viewing angles are vastly superior on IPS, even right in front of your face. Just adjusting in your chair slightly up or down can change the viewed contrast of a tn-film monitor. 170 is a flat out lie. It's more like 30 verticle before the image changes. IPS does not have that problem.
And IPS is plenty fast for all but pro gamers. The image of an IPS is so vastly superior, it's worth the extra loot.

IPS panels are nice, but atm, I don't think I can afford it.
Do you guys think the ML238H would be better than my current monitor? (Asus ML238H 23" 1920 x 1080 2ms Full HD Swivel an...) It would be a direct swap... He gives me the exact mount for it through paypal, I buy it from bestdirect.ca, and when I receive it, I give him my monitor. P.S:I think my glasses are distorting what I see lol (not only the monitor). perhaps they are a little bent Anything else in the sub 200$ price range at http://www.bestdirect.ca/category/?m...id=3&tab=Price is fine

No. If you don't go IPS, keep your higher res monitor. Tn-Film 1080p is a downgrade for you.

Seems logical.
Then is the ML238H a nice monitor overall? He still wants a monitor lol

Can't help you. I'm an elitist monitor snob and ignore anything that has a Tn-Film panel. lol.

Used IPS is an option. I also like PVA.
Good CCFL looks better (and brighter) than not great white LED. Good RGB LED is another story and another price. I have not seen any white LED monitors for computers that offer localized dimming. |

Even in TN panels the cheap ones look like shit, and there is only so much you can do to adjust them.
