Crash under ATI X1600XT PCI-E
Ive got a ATI X1600XT PCI Express...specs are:
Core Clock Speed 600 MHz RAMDAC Clock Speed 400 MHz API Supported DirectX 9.0, OpenGL 2.0 Video Memory Installed 256 MB - GDDR3 SDRAM I tried over clocking the mem clock speed to 500Mhz, but my system went on standby. I left it for about 1 Hour and nothing. I tried overclocking it less but no difference. Is this a over heating prob or is it a bug w/ the ATI Tool? Thankyou sharpsniper |

What do you mean by it went to stand by? It went to stand by while overclocking?

First a correction: the RAMDAC is not the memory speed.
The standard memory speed of the X1600XT is 690-700 MHz, while the Core speed is 587-590 MHz. The X1600XT cards don't overclock much. Please take a look at this article: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1940 I have one in another PC and the result was about the same of the one in the article. A better cooler and some voltmods would help.

I have Sapphire X1600XT 256MB PCI-E and I can easily overclock it to 641/747.
Haven't tried limits yet so I downloaded ATITool instead of using rivatuner for "find max gpu/mem clock" to make things easier. I've tried this with 4 different drivers including 6.5/omega, 6.6ati, 6.5/dhzp zeropoint and 6.6ngo and I have this "no signal"-problem(screen just went to no signal) everytime I press "find max gpu clock". By pressing "find max mem clock" it just shows test once and then window just goes black with time(numbers) counting on top. I used default clocks for this. I can overclock with this tool and it works, only not this "auto find max"-thingie. I use safemode, ccleaner and drivercleaner when changing drivers. I have tested without ATT and with CCC or old CP also. I keep ATI hotkeys and smart service disabled always. I also have disabled tvout with no success. Any suggestions? Would be cool to have full potential of this tool. Nforce4 SLI Deluxe is my mainboard if that helps. Last edited by shagath; Jul 24, 2006 at 12:16 AM. |
