This is pointless, you can always adjust your BIOS setting to have the slots configured to X1.
Hell, you can even tape the connector on the card to block off the other 15 lanes.

The point of this card is so that if you need extra displays for your system, you can inexpensively add them. So now, for what, $350-400, you can have 8 monitors on your system.

yeah this card is not for a primary adaptor lol. I guess the younger ones here don't know of such things as using a pci car and an agp card in tandem to run multi monitors. one could call them noobs but hey i'm in a good mood. but seriously why else would you want a 512mb x1300? for texture rendering in multimonitor modes for say video editing/creating software as well as web design grpahic design and etc. this is not for gamers.

Indeed. It's also good for those of us who have MANY test machines, and are slowly becoming disgruntled by the vastly thinning amount of PCI VPUs.

Anyway, I'm VERY interested in the VIVO-capabilities. It depends on the cost, but I just might get myself one of these.. |

Hmm, VIVO too? Could be a cheap way to get quad tuners on an HTPC

KTR u are very correct. ATI plans to use these cards as physics cards on there crossfire setup. Meaning that if your runnung 2 x1900xt and want a physic card as well u dont have to use a pci slot for it. I think this is a great idea but I haven't seen any programming or drivers out to do this yet though. ATI was advertising this on their site last week but i can't seem to find the link at the moment. But if you do a little looking you should be able to find it.

i'm with the others, this is for using a slot that has nothing to use it atm, works to run windows vista/operating systems, and can have ViVo, Physics and adds more monitors.
I just wish they'd made it shorter, so it wouldnt get in the way as much.

What would happen if you set your pci-e 16x to 1x and put an x1900xtx in it? If that would work, you could theoretically mod your x1900xtx into a 1x card. :P Just use a saw.

I need one
Ok this is what happened I got a good discount on a dell so i ordered it. I Also ordered 2 19" lcd to go with it from buy.com good deal 19 lcd widesreen acers, anyway i was gonna use a nice nVida card i had from my older machine to do multi-monitor.
Well anyway the reason i need this card is b/c the stupid dell only has pci slots and 1 pcie x1(no pci x16 or agp) slot. What the hell! i kinda wanna return it now. but I'm gonna try and work with. any suggestions. This card is sold out everywhere so i'm out of ideas |
