Intel's Sandy Bridge Integrated Graphics chip ?
Hi guys,
I have some questions about this integrated graphics chip .. ![]() Looking at the Core i7 & Core i5 "quads" Sandy Bridge Processors, do their IGP's have any processing rule on a P67 platform ? I mean acceleration for encoding/transcoding/decoding ? or its about paying more for something you will never use ? Is there a similar technology to nVIDIA Optimus that could be used with Intel Sandy Bridge ? so u can switch btw discrete GFX & IGP for power saving ? See link for TPU's review, not sure if you'll find the answer there but it won't hurt to try.

Thanx man, but I just want to know if the IGP would work parallel to the CPU on a P67 ?
if not, that will be a total waste of money and resources

I don't think it would on a P67 chipset but will on an H67 one IIRC. It's somewhat similar to the P55's where the IGP will only function on an H type chipset mobo.

You should wait for mobos based on the Z68 chipset to come out later this year, I read that chipset will allow you to use QuickSync when using a discrete card. As of now, AFAIK, neither the P67, nor the H67 let you access the integrated GPU functions when you have a discrete card on any desktop systems; on notebooks though, with Optimus enabled, you may be able to use QuickSync if the discrete card is not in use, and the IGP is being used (i.e. no 3D tasks)
