Help with CSS needed

I bought CSS a couple of years ago on steam so i could play on my local server. However, ever since the last update 6 months ago, i couldn't connect to any servers any more as the servers didn't update their versions. Now i can't even open CSS in steam, it just crashes back to desktop, so i downloaded a torrent and updated to version .24 but although i know people are playing on my local server 221.132.34.100:28015 it doesn't come up in my favourites.

I searched for the server and added the game to my favourites, but it still doesn't turn up

Any idea what i can do to connect to servers in CSS? this problem has been driving me crazy for month. i've tried uninstalling steam and re-downloading the client, but it still just crashes to desktop and i think the local server is still using versions behind the latest release on steam.

you try the beta CSS also try defraging the files for the game ,Then try verifiy integreity of game cache.If you have a Pirated version your steam account will get banned.All updates are from Vavle and ALLL versions are the same except those ones that are illegal and is your name in steam a nice RED color now?

No i have a purchased copy of CSS which is installed via Steam but won't work. I deleted it (for a second time) and am re-dowloading via steam now.

I also have one i downloaded (non-steam) via torrents, which is what i was talking about in my OP. I figure it's not a problem for me to use a torrent version, as i have purchased the original but it just crashes.

My local server is a non-steam one anyway and is not running the latest version. but when i re-download the steam one, i guess it'll update and there will be no option to un-install updates

What do you mean uninstall updates,I thought you could not do this?

Also if you have the bought version from steam it should be up to date and you should have the CSS beta installed too.

Check your steam account status in the main window does it say 1 vac ban ?

No, it's not banned... the torrent version is separate from the steam one that i am currently re-installing.

I have 2 installations of CSS
1- Steam client installed version > crashes PC and the server uses a different version
2- Torrent version (non-steam), manually updated to v.24, but it doesn't populate the server list. When i manually add it to my favourites, i can see the game being played in the dialog box, but then it disappears when i click "add to favourites"

My problem is that the server i want to connect to isn't using the latest version of CSS, so i must use a non-steam version of the game and manually update. But everything i have tried won't let me connect to the server.

then that server is more then likely using the CSS beta version then.

Nope, they aren;t running the Beta version.

Just re-downloaded CSS via steam and i still get the same error as always

well try a system restore then,Could be Windows is not getting the file signature right .
